Who This Is For?
Employers
Australian businesses that cannot find suitably skilled local workers and need a lawful, compliant way to sponsor overseas talent.
Skilled Professionals & Families
Overseas workers with skills in demand in Australia who are seeking temporary work rights, permanent residence, and stability for their families.
Main Visa Pathways
Subclass 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS)
• Temporary visa (up to 4 years)
• Requires approved sponsor, Labour Market Testing, and salary at market rate above the income threshold
• Common pathway to permanent residence via subclass 186 after required period of employment
Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
• Permanent residence
• Requires employer nomination, relevant skills assessment, competent English, and at least 3 years’ experience
Subclass 494 – Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional)
• For regional employers
• 5-year provisional visa with pathway to permanent residence (subclass 191) after 3 years
• Requires skills assessment, competent English, and regional endorsement
Labour Agreements & DAMA
• For employers who cannot sponsor under standard occupation lists
• May allow concessions on age, English, salary, or experience
• Available for temporary and permanent pathways depending on the agreement
(Salary thresholds and requirements update annually.)
Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL)
Employer-sponsored visas are closely linked to Australia’s Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL), which determine whether a role is eligible for sponsorship and under which visa pathway.
Occupations may appear on:
• the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) for standard employer-sponsored visas (such as subclass 482 and 186), or
• regional or concession-based lists under Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) and Labour Agreements.
Being on the SOL does not guarantee visa approval. The position must be genuine, the business must demonstrate a real need for the role, and salary and skill levels must align with Australian market standards. Some occupations may also be available only in regional Australia or subject to specific conditions.
We assess both the occupation listing and the practical business role to ensure the nomination is lawful, defensible, and strategically positioned for temporary or permanent residence.
